First Full HD LCD Add on for Raspberry Pi Hits £12k on Kickstarter as ‘Staff Pick’

September 25 07:52 2014

Liverpool, UK – On September 15th, Inti Innovations launched a Kickstarter campaign for 1080Pi, the first full HD LCD add on for Rasberry Pi. Since then, the project has gone on to raise over £12k from more than 100 bakers and has also received a ‘Kickstarter Staff Pick’ mention.

“1080Pi represents Piotr’s vision which materialized in the late 2013 after seeing the poor great quality of the LCD on the best tablets at the time. A year later, we are now proud to present a product carefully designed to be easy to use, functional, and most importantly one that gives you an incredible image quality.” – Piotr Zarobkiewicz, founder of Inti Innovations.

The product is built around an ultra thin, light, and energy efficient LCD touch screen featuring a WUXGA IPS panel and a responsive capacitive multi point touch screen. The In Plane Switching (IPS) LCD screen offers wider viewing angels, consistent and accurate color rendition, stable response time, and a clear and sharp image.

For Raspberry Pi enthusiasts, 1080Pi also offers several features aimed at making the device flexible and easy to upgrade. These include I2C GPIO expander giving you 16 extra GPIOs, mirrored Raspberry Pi main connector (gpios, power etc) so you can connect additional add-ons, full compatibility with A, B, B+ Raspberry Pi, and ID EEPROM chip for B+ add-on identification.

“No matter what you plan to use your LCD touch screen for you want your experience with it to be hassle free. You don’t want long cables, multiple power adapters or long hours spend trying to configure your touch panel. We developed the 1080Pi to give you just that a fantastic image quality and absolutely hassle free experience.” – Piotr Zarobkiewicz, founder of Inti Innovations.

After having developed the product for a year, the team decided to turn to Kickstarter to finance the initial production run and take the product through compliance testing. In exchange for supporting the crowdfunding campaign, early adopters and Raspberry Pi users will have access to a discounted self-assembly kit for 1080Pi, the fully assembled model, exclusive backer updates, and more.

The project will run until October 19th. For more information, contact the creators below or visit the Kickstarter campaign here.
