Sachin’s Farewell Series: Cheteshwar Pujara & Rohit Sharma Hit Tons, Little Master Scores 74 runs

pujaraWankhede, Mumbai, November 15 – Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar stylishly played a knock of 74 runs from 118 balls amid loud noise of fans in the stadium. Playing ahead of 38 runs made on the first day of his last match against West Indies, Sachin enthralled the crowd by intelligent shots and boundaries. A few sweep shots also came out of his bat after long time. Narsingh Deonarine, the offspinner, got his wicket when Darren Sammy took a good catch behind the stumps.

Cheteshwar Pujara hit 5th test hundred and scored 113 runs from 167 balls, consistently showing nice performances in test cricket. Rohit Sharma once again proved his selection in test team worth. He got his 2nd test hundred from 117 balls by hitting a straight six. In his debut test at Eden gardens in Kolkata, Sharma scored 177 runs, hitting strokes all around the stadium.

Virat Kohli made 57 runs from 78 balls and R Ashwin hit 32 runs from 32 balls. West Indies seemed to succumb against the Indian team as bowlers were unsuccessful in stopping runs. However, Shane Shillingford rose as a successful bowler in the farewell series of Master Blaster and picked up 5 wickets giving 179 runs

At the stump today, India made 495 runs and got the lead of 313 runs. Partnership of 68 runs between Rohit and M Shami is the biggest 10th wicket partnership in India vs. West Indies match. While playing in the second innings, West Indies made 43 runs and have lost their three wickets in the forms of K Powell, T Best and D Bravo. Ashwin took two wickets, while P Ojha picked 1 wicket.

Sachin’s final appearance in 200th Test match has fetched everyone’s attention. Various dignitaries were present at Wankhede stadium to applaud for ‘God of Cricket’ one last time. Presence of Rahul Gandhi, Aamir Khan with wife Kiran Rao, Hrithik Roshan and Nita Ambani proved that Sachin mania is up over every cricket fan. The crowd gave standing ovation to the star batsman as soon as he headed towards the pavilion after his dismissal by Narsingh Deonarine.
