Tarla Dalal Breathes Her Last at 77

Tarla DalalMumbai, November 7 – Tarla Dalal, the renowned Indian food writer and chef, breathed her last on Wednesday, November 6, at the age of 77 post a short illness. The Padma Shri award winner Dalal was also the author of best-selling cookbook and she even hosted of a few cooking shows such as “Cook it up with Tarla Dalal” and “Tarla Dalal show”. Her contribution in the field of cooking is immaculate as she imparted major role in bringing cuisine preparation to the next level being one of the major sources to popularize art of cooking in every household.

The Pune born chef shifted to Mumbai post her marriage with Naveen Dalal in 1960 and few years later only, she opened cooking classes at her South Mumbai residence. In 2005, Indian Merchants’ Chamber awarded her with the honor of ‘Women of the Year’.

Her demise due to heart attack has left various chefs in the state of shock. Sanjeev Kapoor, one of the most popular chefs of India, mentioned that loss of Tarla ji is terrible. It is not only him who was shocked with this bad news on Wednesday, Narendra Modi and Chef Vikas Khanna were also in the same queue. They paid their tributes by tweeting. More to the point, fans of ‘God Mother of Indian Food and Culinary’ also paid their homage for the iconic chef.
